HyperID Privacy Policy

HyperID Privacy Policy (“Policy”) is a document that has been established to explain how HyperID (“we”, “us”, etc.) collects, protects, uses, manages, and discloses data that our users (“you”, “your”, etc.) have directly provided to HyperID application and website, referred to later as the “Services”.

HyperID is an open for adoption technology allowing users to manage their data with access permissions and data encryption. More specifically, HyperID is a decentralized authentication protocol created to address problems associated with account credential creation and maintenance. HyperID allows users to log into multiple unrelated websites securely without having to create separate online identities.

Our main goal is to give our users a strong authentication method to online services they use daily, while maintaining their user privacy. This document is aimed to describe the privacy-preserving work principles that make an integral part of HyperID technology and processes.

This Privacy Policy document applies to all of the personal data that we collect and process from or about individuals from all sources.

Age Restrictions

If you voluntarily provide your PII for us to provide the Services, you confirm that you are at least 16 years old or obtained consent from the legal guardian or the holder of parental responsibility.

If we discover that we have allowed a user under 16 to access and use our Services, we will remove such an account and erase all information associated with it. If you're under 16, please don’t provide any information to HyperID Services.

By using HyperID, including downloading our mobile application, or visiting our website, you agree to the use, disclosure, and procedures outlined in this Policy. If you disagree, please do not use or access HyperID Services.

Data Collection

For applicable international data protection laws, HyperID is the “controller” of the “Personally Identifiable Information” (PII) collected through the Services and we are responsible for the processing of your personal data under this Privacy Policy.

PII is any kind of information that can be used to identify, locate, or contact a single person, such as the user's name, email address, phone number, or any other non-public information. We provide the necessary physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect the PII we process and maintain to rule out the risk of unauthorized access to data and its misuse.

You don’t have to submit any personal data in order to use our Website, but we may collect personal data about you that you voluntarily choose to provide to us and your activities on the HyperID website that we automatically collect as you interact with the Website. In order to fully use our provided Services, any user will be required to perform two tasks: initial registration with our Services and subsequent authentication with the Service.

Registration is the foundation of all subsequent HyperID operations related to that account, and is a very important operation that must be taken particularly seriously. When you sign up for our Services, we ask you to provide us with some personal information. If we use personal information in a way that is different than the purpose of collection, we will ask for your consent.

To register a HyperID account, you will need to provide your email address and choose a password. The verification code will be sent to your email address and will be valid for only 30 minutes.

Please note that we use the term “user verification” to refer to how a device locally interacts with or identifies the user. We use the term “authentication” to refer to how the user is identified to a remote system over the network using HyperID cryptographic protocols.

To provide our Services, we may collect the following types of information:

  • User-provided information

When you sign up, we only ask you to provide your email address and choose a password.

  • Automatically collected information

HyperID collects two types of anonymous information automatically during your setup and use of the application: crash logs for error correction and system continuity, and device information to tie your account to your device.

  • User communications

When you send us an email or contact HyperID support through some other means of communication, we may retain that data to process your inquiries and respond to your requests.

  • Links

HyperID may present links to other third parties. We don't have any control over third-party websites, and we do not keep track of whether these links have been followd. HyperID website may contain links to websites that act as separate legal entities and whose information practices may be different from ours.

This Privacy Policy document does not cover any such third party websites. If you decide to provide your personal data to any such third party websites, all the data you disclose will be subject to the Privacy Policy and practices of such third parties.

We review our data collection, processing, and storage policies to make sure that we only collect, process, and store the personal information required to provide or improve our Services.

If we use your personal information in any fashion that is not described in this Policy, we will offer you a way to opt-out of the use of personal data for those other purposes. We will not collect or use any of your sensitive information for any purposes other than those described in this Policy.

HyperID does not rent, sell, or distribute your data to third parties. Your personal data is also never shared with any third party for targeted ads and never processed for user profiling. HyperID also doesn’t have ads.

You can decline to submit your personal information to any of our services, in which case HyperID will not be able to provide those services to you.
